Project Revision Two Shot fix

This revision we are making is during the face off scene. When all characters expressions are shown each character receives a close up, except for one. My character receives a close up of only the left side of his face, and it is shot so that his head is position in the front of the frame. We plan on redoing this shot so it not only matches the complete face close up of the other two cast members, but also so it obeys the law of thirds.

Project Revision One Second TItle

We improved the second title card at the end of the film. It used to be orange and have a black stroke, now it is a larger only yellow font. This was a more aesthetically appealing improvement.

Target Audience Molly's Game

Image
Molly's Game was released in 2018, and the age demographic would be similar with our film. The film focused on advertising through print media, TV Spots, and some social media. The film generated most interest by being selected in the Entertainment Weekly fall issue. In the magazine, there was an interview and photo shoot with the lead actress, Jessica Chastain, as well as the the writer and director, Aaron Sorkin. The magazine has an older audience demographic. Our group agrees that we would get more ticket sales, if we follow a similar path. However, Molly's Game is an inspiring movie for the female movie-goer, and our film does not have many tropes that would captivate female movie-goers like Molly's Game. Our group wants to primarily focus on the age that Molly's Game targets.

Baby driver target audience

Image
The audience of baby Driver is similar to that of our Film. The audiences are similar because it features a fast paced action crime thriller that stars a young male main character lead. This audience is most likely the young adult male category. The film was advertised with posters, these were hung in movie theaters and film festivals, which generated awareness of the film in the demographic of movie enthusiasts. Two different trailers of the film offered two different vibes which could have interested those different sides of the spectrum. These were shown on television, YouTube, and other social medias. The film also had cross promotions with other companies, Alpha Industries created movie inspired apparel, Subaru used the movie to advertise it's WRX model, and Urban Outfitters, had an elusive movie t-shirt and soundtrack vinyl. We would like to use all these forms of advertisement especially the movie inspired clothes line.

Feedback/Revisions

Overall feedback was constructive. We realize that  we had some setbacks with the cast and location due to the dead line. With more time we could act on some of our original ideas and increase the production of the film as a whole. To start off, better more interesting locations, a larger cast, with more dialogue, and better shots. The comedy was also well received by the audience, we could add more of this for an overall better appeal.

Use of Conventions/ Social Groups

We followed the conventions of an opening for a crime thriller. We challenged the convention of having long opening credits by having all of them appear and disappear quickly. This allowed us to direct more attention on the film. The social groups we aimed to portray were that of thugs or criminals. This social group adds appeal as it lets the audience view a lifestyle that may interest them, however would be dangerous to actually live out. This portrays the issue of breaking the law.

Planning and Production: Location Scouting

In the weeks of December 18th to the 29th we scouted locations and decided on where to film. Our original choice was to film at a friend's house, as he had an interesting clubhouse area. This would provide the gangster hideout vibe that we wanted to be present in our film. However due to scheduling issues we were not able to use that location. This resulting in us using our second choice, our neighbor's shed. It does not have the same ascetic qualities but it was a subtitle bland nondescript replacement. It still provides the the secluded hideout feeling.
